Wildfire Update for Fort Nelson
The fire was reported after thunderstorms went through the Fort Nelson zone early evening. The fire is located approximately 5 miles south, SE of Fort Nelson Airport.
The fire is currently estimated at 80 hectares in size – 25 firefighters are on scene with support of 3 helicopters which are water bucketing the fire and airtankers. Crews will continue working on the fire into late this evening.
The fire is burning east and away from the Fort Nelson First Nation Band
Fort Nelson has crews available and o standby to action new fire starts in the Fort Nelson Zone.
