2014 Oil and Gas Conference Cancelled
Fort Nelson – At their August 26, 2014 Special Meeting, the Regional Council for the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality unanimously resolved to cancel the 2014 Oil and Gas Conference, scheduled to be held September 30th to October 1st in Fort Nelson. The conference has been cancelled due to poorer than expected registration numbers, limited resources, and low participation from key industrial and government stakeholders. Also, the Conference was in competition with other related events such as the Northeast BC Natural Gas Summit occurring in Vancouver from September 18th to 19th.
“While regrettable, Regional Council believes it is better to cancel the conference rather than host an event that does not meet the needs of the local community and those involved in the energy industry,” the release states.
