On Thursday, January 23rd, the Work BC Employment Services Centre held its first ‘Business After 5’ mixer with the Chamber of Commerce and members of the business community. Visitors enjoyed an evening of appetizers and refreshments while learning about the programs and services offered by the employment centre. Staff of the centre, are: Job Development and Employment Support Worker Dave Dean, Labour Market Information/Employment Support Worker Kelly Clarke, Manager Janice Adams, Receptionist Holly Normore, and Case Manager Kathryn MacNeil. Work BC Employment Services Centre operates under Fort Nelson Employment Services Incorporated.

A chance to meet socially, mingle, and network, and to put a face to a name. Approximately 20 attended. Krista Vandersteen from the town office, Bev Vandersteen from the Chamber of Commerce, and Kym Gillette from Down to Earth Health Shop were among the participants. The Chamber assists in hosting Business After 5 events, and any company can inquire about how to hold one. Overwaitea, IGA, and Tim Hortons donated the majority of the food, including meat and cheese platters, fruit and veggie platters, and four dozen doughnuts. The Chamber also donated a Milepost guide and t-shirt as one of the door prizes.

Wenda King from Travel Time, Kim Maher from the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and Kim Brake from Miko Casing Services (with Dave) were among the guests.
