Northern Rockies RCMP are still seeking the public’s assistance to resolve an ATV incident that occurred during the very early morning hours of June 23rd on the Community Walking Trail behind Tamarack Crescent that left 22-year-old Austin Benson of Kirkfield, ON suffering from a serious head injury.
Benson was transported to Vancouver for further treatment where he was joined by his parents who travelled from Ontario after being notified of this unfortunate event involving their son.
Police believe Benson was either operating or was the passenger on an ATV when this incident occurred.
Police also believe Benson was in the company of one or more other persons on possibly one of more ATVs when he suffered this serious injury.
These other persons, instead of stopping to offer Austin Benson assistance or call Emergency Services, simply fled the scene leaving the seriously injured young man laying in the ditch to fend for himself.
To date those persons spoken to in regards to this event have been less than cooperative and forthcoming with police.
Police are following up on information that Austin Benson was seen in the company of other persons with ATVs earlier in the evening.
If anyone has any information about this incident they are encouraged to call the Fort Nelson RCMP or if they wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477
