Milk Run 2013

: Brayden McLeod finished first with an awesome time of 9:05, followed closely by Gr. 12 student Rylyn Bell. In 2010 Brayden was the top Gr. 8 runner (9:47), in 2011 the top Gr. 9 runner (10:16), in 2012 the top Gr. 10 runner (9:06), and this year set a personal best with his first place and top Gr. 11 time of 9:05; he certainly has the potential to break the 27 year old milk run record next year! You can do it Brayden; it’s time for the record to be broken! Grad student Kieran Deinstadt finishes his last Milk Run with his personal best time of 10:46! Well done Kieran! Grade 10 student Trynn Roy finished third overall with a personal best time of 9:26; like Brayden, Trynn has also been the top runner in his age category ever since Gr. 8. Congratulations Trynn!

: Grade 11 student Angela Roberts was the first female student to cross the finish line with a great time of 11:58. Excellent effort Angela!

: Erin Ring was the first Gr. 8 female to finish the course in 12:54. Great job Erin!

The students and staff of FNSS participated in the 27th annual BC School Sports Milk Run on Wednesday June 5th, 2013. Participants can run or walk the 2.7 km route, and the event is always popular with staff and students not only to raise money for charity, but also to see if personal best times can be set (and many were!) Brayden McLeod (Grade 11) was the first runner to cross the finish line for the second consecutive year with an impressive time of 9:05, followed closely by Rylyn Bell (Grade 12) at 9:07. Angela Roberts (Grade 11) was the first female student with a great time of 11:58. Top Male and Female grade runners: Grade 8 – Cale Cripps (10:58) and Erin Ring (12:54), Grade 9 – Blake Seidel (10:14) and Kaylee Giesbrecht (13:13), Grade 10 – Trynn Roy (9:26), Grade 11 – Brayden McLeod (9:05) and Angela Roberts (11:58), Grade 12 – Rylyn Bell (9:07) and Nora Kurzwelly (14:54). Mr. Irwin was the first staff member to finish the run with a great time of 9:57, and Mrs. Sparshu came in at 12:38.
A total of $118 was collected from the 50 runners and will be donated to the “Northern Rockies Seniors Society”. Well done to all participants! Special thanks to the RCMP for the police escorts (Les Hobenshield, Paul Laughman, and Tom Roy), Kanta Reddy and the “FOR” Club for donating bottles of water, Doug and John Roper at Phoenix Theatre for donating movie passes for the top runners, Mr. Bill Woodworth for bringing the timing clock, the staff volunteers and participants (Ms. Yurkowski, Mrs. Earl, Mr. Irwin, Mrs. Sparshu, Gabe Irwin, Mrs. Waldern, Mr. Chenier, Mrs. Deinstadt, and Mrs. Tofte), and to the student volunteers Connor Shaw and Kailey Paquette who helped make Milk Run 2013 a big success.
