Police would like to remind motorists that, although summer is just around the corner, school is still in session. This means, that when you are driving through a school zone during school hours, the posted speed limit is 30 km/hr. School hours are in effect Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
There is a reason for the reduced speed on roads that pass by schools. Sometimes children do not pay as close attention to traffic as they should, so it is incumbent upon the drivers to be aware of the school zones, slow down to the posted 30 km/hr zone and watch for the people that are in the area. They may not be watching for you.
