Food Fight!

: Children’s Librarian Sylvia Bramhill captured the imaginations of these youngsters while reading several books from the series ‘Fancy Nancy’. The Fancy Nancy book collection inspires readers to imagine how everything around them is just a bit fancier.

: Over 40 delightfully dressed children arrived at the Library in style on Saturday, in appreciation of the bestselling book series Fancy Nancy. All ages came to the French soiree to mingle in their finest clothing and accessories. After creating colourful wands and butterflies, they attended charm school where they learned how to hold tea cups with pinky up. Gourmet Girl’s Nicole Lachance prepared a delicious spread of dainty tea sandwiches, and cute cupcakes.

: The winners made selections from antipasto, verdure, pasta, piatto principale, and dolci. They chose assorted bruschetta, insalata caprese, insalata Caesar, broccoli di rape, patate, pesto penne, pollo piccatta, and tiramisu (some dishes shown), all made with expertise and love. “Just delicious,” said the diners, who were very pleased with the flavours of each of every dish.

: A new addition to this year’s Rotary Auction is the Italian Dinner for Six by Gourmet Girl. Included in Nicole Lachance’s catering is the treat of no dishes to clean. She delivered an authentic Italian seven-course meal in serving dishes, with plates and cutlery to the winning bidders (Wall and Smith families) for an evening of outdoor dining. The next day Lachance retrieved the entire kit of dishes.

: The two staff members who received the most votes were Assistant Branch Manager Ashley Asselstine and Ostig. Marilee McLean-Diemert had the pleasure of hand delivering a pie to Asselstine.

: The evening was a special surprise for Bob and Barb Smith. They arrived from Ontario that afternoon to visit son Peter and daughter-in-law Kathy. They savoured the feast and enjoyed catching up with friends Ben and Barb Wall again.
