One male is in police custody while another male is still outstanding after a botched robbery at a local store in Dawson Creek, BC.
On February 20th, 2013, Dawson Creek RCMP and the RCMP Police Dog Service responded to a robbery in progress at a local jewellery store in Dawson Creek.
Two persons wearing red bandannas over their faces entered the store and jumped over the counter. One suspect knocked over a female employee who then held on to the male suspect with the help of another store employee.
The second suspect jumped the counter and tried to enter the back of the store armed with an ice scraper. It was there that another employee protected himself with an aluminum baseball bat and confronted the suspect, preventing him from entering the back of the store.
The second suspect then fled the store empty handed and was last seen running down an alley parallel to 102nd Avenue.
RCMP arrested a 28-year-old male who is well known to police. He remains in police custody pending a bail hearing.
RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a second suspect who remains at large.
The suspect male is described as being 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall, weighing 160 to 180 lbs. He was dressed in black clothing, and had a red bandanna over his face.
