FORT ST JOHN – The Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge takes place this February from the 8th to the 11th as part of our local winter festival.
This is now the second year of the pond hockey event and we are trying to get the word out across western Canada as best we can.
The challenge involves three days of great outdoor hockey action with teams of four to five playing 4-on-4 hockey including a kick-off party the Friday night prior to the challenge. “This year we have become very ambitious after a successful last year of 28 teams and opened the challenge to 60 teams.” said Neil Evans, CEO and Founder
“We have also created our own website (www.thecrystalcup.ca) where you can find all the detailed information regarding the event. The location of the event includes the south end of Charlie Lake just 10 minutes north of Fort St. John and has now been in preparation for several weeks. The site will include eight full-size player rinks, one full-size public rink, a children’s skating area, and beer gardens. Teams can now register online or by stopping by the North Peace Leisure Pool in Fort St. John. Registration deadline is January 31st. We cordially invite any media that are wishing to attend the event at this time. We also would be honoured to be mentioned on any newspaper, radio, TV broadcast, or any other source in order to help promote the event. Our plan in the following years is to develop The Crystal Cup Pond Hockey Challenge into one of the largest and most exciting outdoor hockey events in western Canada. Thank you for your support and please check out the website or please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you,” said Neil Evans.
