In September, 75 members from our community made the commitment to get fit: to become more healthy, exercise regularly and make health and wellness a priority. The Community 90-Day ‘Commit to Get Fit’ Challenge was initiated by Northern Rockies Regional Municipality Fitness Instructors, with the hopes of motivating and encouraging participants to become more aware of making healthy choices by engaging in regular physical activity and healthy eating.
Participants were committed to keeping track of their daily exercise (classes and at home) for 90 days and worked as a team to stay on track with attendance, complete challenges, and stay motivated. Prizes were awarded for Top Losers (based on percentage of body weight lost), Top Overall (Individual) Attendance, Top Team Attendance, and Top Team Challenge Winners. The ‘Commit to Get Fit’ challenge came to an end on December 8th. A huge congratulations to all of the participants who completed the challenge, and to our amazing success stories! Stephanie Sellors was our Top Loser with an amazing loss of 12.16 per cent body weight and 24.75”. Congratulations, Stephanie; what an amazing accomplishment! Stephanie was also awarded Top Overall Attendance, followed by our At-Home Attendance winner, Kathleen Woodworth. Congratulations, also, to our other Top Losers:
Cori Peach: -10.67%, 18.75”
Arlene Chmelyk: -10.16%, 14.75”
Kari Henderson: -7.77%, 16.75”
Frank Peach: -7.74%, 17”
Carla Noble: -7.73%, 16”
Lastly, the Determination and Positive Attitude Award was given to Anna Wallis. Anna continuously encouraged others to get physically active and to not give up, and is such a delight to have in class. Way to go, Anna!
