December oil and gas lease sales over $30 million
The oil and gas lease sales announced for December 12th, 2012 show marked improvement over recent sales. $30,747,348 will go to the provincial government. There were 22 drilling licences sold, covering an area of 17,615 hectare with an average price per hectare of $882.
24 leases were offered, 18 of these sold, covering an area of 12,778 hectares with an average price of $1,176.
The top price was paid for a drilling licence purchased by Maverick Land Consultants 2012 at a price of $8.66 million. Charter Land Services paid $5.63 million. The next oil and gas lease sale will be January 16th, 2013.
As of November 30th, 2012 these are the rigs active in Northeastern BC:
• 38 rigs drilling
• 8 rigs released
• 3 preparing to spud.
