Remembrance Day Assembly

J.S. Clark Elementary School

By Samantha Anderson, Marcus Beaudoin, and Travis Torraville, Grade 3, JS Clark School
On November 9th, two days before Remembrance Day, the J.S. Clark school held an assembly.  Two people from each class (a boy and a girl) would go up to the front of the gym and put a wreath on the cross.  There were seven wreaths on the cross in total.  Mr. Robert, the Minister of the Alliance Church and Chaplain of the Army Reserves, came to our school.  He played the bagpipes for us and told us what he does for life.  He had the sad job of telling families about lost loved ones.  We had one minute of silence to remember the people who died in all the wars.  The assembly was very quiet, much more quiet than normal.  Mrs. Loe’s class performed two poems, “Flander’s Fields” and “Forget Me Not”.  They were very sad poems.  Since it was Remembrance Day, nobody clapped for the performance but we did like it.  Almost everyone wore poppies and some of them were real.  Remembrance Day is a sad occasion and some of us almost cried.  It is important to remember!
