Missing hiker body found – New Hazelton

New Hazelton RCMP and Search and Rescue have located the body of missing hiker, Warren Andrew Sill from Ohio on November 18th, 2012.
Sill went missing in the Gull Creek area of New Hazelton in July 2012 after police located his vehicle parked at the entrance of the Whiskey Creek Trail. Sill was reportedly in the area to film a documentary on the Kermode Bear. Despite the efforts of Search and Rescue Teams throughout the Province, the exhaustive search was concluded on July 20th, 2012.
The local Search and Rescue Team (SAR) did however, continue their training and search efforts in the Gull Creek area. Yesterday, members of SAR located what appeared to be a shirt belonging to Sill near a waterfall site and a pool area that could not be accessed through the summer months due to the terrain and high water level. Since the water level subsided two pool areas were searched by SAR swift water teams.
“Due to the decreased water levels at this time of year, members were able to access the area and located a body” stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer “We can confirm that it is Warren Andrew Sill and our condolences go out to the Sill family and all his friends”.
