Early Tuesday morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. Northern Rockies Emergency Services were notified of a single vehicle rollover on Hwy #97 approximately 8 kms north of Buckinghorse involving an H&R Transport tractor and trailer unit. Emergency Services from Fort Nelson were immediately dispatched to the scene. His driving partner of 39 years, also a permanent resident of the United Kingdom and living in Lethbridge, AB, was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and flown to hospital in Fort St. John with serious injuries. Police have learned the truck and trailer, laden with food stuffs, was en route to Whitehorse from Edmonton when it left the highway. The RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene to conduct an investigation in an effort to determine the exact cause of the incident as it appears road and weather conditions at the collision location were good at the time.

 Threatened with a baseball bat

On November 4th, 2012 at 8:05 p.m. police were called to the Midnight Sun Trailer Park when a 32-year-old Fort Nelson woman reported she had been assaulted and threatened with a baseball bat.

Police attended the woman?s residence where they were advised by the victim that her neighbour confronted her outside of her residence with a baseball bat in his possession.

The victim told police her neighbour grabbed her jacket, striking her in the chest with his hand knocking her backwards.

The victim told police when she tried to run away into her residence her neighbour began swinging the baseball bat at her.

Police attended the neighbors residence where they observed a large empty cardboard T.V. box standing up in front of the residence with the message ?Crackheads & Thieves in #?? written in bold letters on the front.

Idiots with guns

This past Friday morning at 8:44 a.m. police received a report from a Westcana Electric employee advising that someone had shot out the lights on the CN Railway Bridge on the Clarke Lake Road. The Westcana employee was unsure when the damage actually occurred but was required to report it. This is unfortunately not the first time that some idiot with a gun has shot out the railway lights at this location or peppered numerous other commercial and regulatory road signs throughout the NRRM with gunfire.

He thought he was in Dawson Creek

Friday evening at 11:45 hrs police were called to the Men?s Shelter to deal with an intoxicated male standing outside in the cold. Police arrived and confirmed the 36 year old Prince George man was intoxicated and thought he was in Dawson Creek. Police informed the man he was actually in Fort Nelson and under these circumstances had better come and spend a few hours with them until he sobers up and in better condition to make his way home.

Missed his shift

This past Monday morning at 9:47 a.m. police received a phone call from the Fort Nelson Airport Operations Manager requesting their attendance to meet an incoming North Caribou Air Charter flight. Police were advised the crew aboard the plane had reported they were experiencing some difficulty with an unruly possibly intoxicated passenger.

When the flight arrived police were waiting boarding the flight arresting a 20-year-old man from Nanaimo for Mischief Endangering the Safety of an Aircraft. The 20-year-old man advised police he had been partying until 3:00 a.m. and did not think he was being disruptive on the flight.

Police transported the 20-year-old man back to the police office where he was lodged in jail while it was determined what type of enforcement action North Caribou Air was seeking.

Police were advised by North Caribou Air they were not seeking any further enforcement action and had barred the 20-year-old man from flying with their airline.

Not too polite to the officer

Not a nice way to greet the police unless of course you are looking for the express route to jail. If this was the case a 45-year-old Fort Nelson man saw his wish come true Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. when police were called to the Fort Nelson Hotel to deal with an intoxicated fellow refusing to leave the premises. When police arrived they located this individual standing outside the hotel. When police approached the individual and asked him his name the intoxicated man started yelling at the police and refusing to identify himself. Police promptly arrested the obnoxious fellow for causing a disturbance and toted him off to jail for the remainder of the night.

Early Tuesday morning November 13th around 1:15 a.m. police were called to deal with another wayward soul who had apparently been indulging just a wee to much and decided to lay his head down and have a nap at one of the tables inside the Tags Convenience store. Police arrived to find the sleeping soul slumped over at one of the tables. The 24-year-old Fort Nelson man was so intoxicated police could not communicate with him and instead simply picking him up and carting him out of the store to the waiting police truck parked outside. Police transported the 24 year old man to the police office where he was lodged in jail for the remainder of the morning.
