Northern Rockies RCMP are currently investigating the break, enter and theft of the Roadhouse Liquor Store during the early morning hours of Tuesday October 30th.
At 1:09 a.m. police received a report from the alarm company that the intrusion alarm at the Roadhouse Liquor Store had been activated.
When police arrived moments later they discovered a truck had been driven right into the store through the front doors, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
Police reviewed the CCTV security footage of the incident which clearly shows two males inside a reported stolen Chevrolet Silverado truck pulling up to the front doors of the liquor store.
The vehicle is observed on CCTV security footage accelerating rapidly and ramming the truck right through the front glass doors of the liquor store on three occasions.
Not satisfied that he had done enough damage and apparently not realizing his passenger had climbed out of the truck, the driver threw the truck into reverse and rapidly accelerated. This action crushed his cohort in crime between the truck’s door and one of the large coolers inside the liquor store, and nearly tore the passenger door right off of the truck.
The passenger was apparently not so good after being run over by the truck and staggered a short distance before collapsing onto the liquor store floor. He eventually got up to help his friend loot the liquor store of a quantity of liquor.
Both suspects then used the badly damaged vehicle to flee the scene. They abandoned the damaged truck and jumped into a black Ford F-350 truck they had stolen a short time earlier from a residence along 49th Street.
Fort Liard RCMP recovered the black Ford F-350 truck several hours later approximately 25 kms south of Fort Liard along Highway #77.
A few hours after recovering the stolen truck Fort Liard RCMP took two Fort Nelson men, 21 and 22 years of age, into custody in relation to this ongoing investigation.
