Fort St. John RCMP have confirmed that a stabbing occurred at North Peace Secondary School in Fort St. John, BC, this morning. Around 10am, a male student stabbed another student in the school. The school was put on lockdown for two hours, but has since been confirmed by the School District to be no longer locked down.
The victim was taken to hospital and there haven’t been confirmed reports on his condition, although a source within the high school tells us he has survived his injuries.
The student who stabbed him was arrested and taken into custody, and RCMP have confirmed the two males knew each other.
A grade 12 student at North Peace Secondary School informs us the incident started with a fight, and one student beating up another student with a metal pole. The student being beaten with the pole reacted by stabbing the other student with a knife. The school was on lockdown for two hours, and we are told by a student at NPSS that the “school handled the entire situation very efficiently, and for most students it wasn’t a scary event at all”.
RCMP and the School District have confirmed that no other students are at risk as a result of this altercation.
