Obituary – Dale Turner, 67

April 23rd, 1943 – September, 2010

Dale was born April 23rd, 1943 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. He was the eldest of three children born to Jean & Doug Turner. He grew up on the Alaska Highway and in 1964 Dale met the love of his life, Anne. They were married September 17th, 1966 and had two daughters, Tami and Carla. Dale and Anne made their home in Fort Nelson until they moved to Alberta in 2001. Dale was an avid trapper and loved the outdoors. Throughout his life Dale worked as a truck driver for DPW, backhoe operator for the Town of Fort Nelson and a power plant operator at Fort Nelson Forest Industries. In 1976, Dale started what was to be his life long career in the oil patch, as a gas well operator for Petro Canada. He retired in 1998, but was called back to cover seasonal work until 2008. Dale leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Anne, his two daughters, Tami Turner, Carla (Frank) Mayes; granddaughters, Candice (Chad) Valin, Jessica Hansen, Amanda, Jenessa and Carlee Mayes; great grandchildren Parker Mayes, Matayah, Gavin and Waylen Valin.; parents, Jean and Doug Turner, brother Wade (Gloria)Turner. Sister, Judy (Stan) Sutherland, sister-in-laws, Lois (Joe) Warren and Judi (Darrell) Streeper and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hilda and Pete Schneider; sister-in-law, Doreen Turner; and nephew, Bill Warren. A celebration of Dale’s life was held in Fort Nelson on September 17th, 2010 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Honourary Pallbearers were Darrell Streeper, Frank Mayes, Wade Turner, Stan Sutherland, Darwin Rattray and Don Aspen.
