This 13 pound turnip was grown by local gardening enthusiast Ron Kushnerek, with the help of his wife Shirley, in their backyard garden. The turnip grew from a wayward turnip seed that wasn’t tended to in any special way. No fertilisers or growth-enhancers were used in the growing of this massive turnip. This is the second time this month that the Fort Nelson News has had opportunity to view an oversized vegetable that started its life as a rogue seed. The first was last week’s giant carrot grown by Nomie Seidel.
