ALASKA HIGHWAY COLLISION CLAIMS ONE LIFE 

Fort St. John, BC – UPDATE – February 11, 2015 
A 24 year old man died this morning in a motor vehicle collision at Mile 64 of the Alaska Highway.
At 11:10 am the RCMP were dispatched to an accident on the Alaska Highway north of Fort St. John. The collision involved two semi logging trucks. One truck, slowing down to make a turn was rear-ended by a second truck. The driver of the second truck succumbed to his injuries on scene.
Police believe that visibility and road conditions contributed to the accident.
The Alaska Highway is expected to be closed until 7 pm today. There is a detour in place, when travelling north on the highway take the Stoddard Creek Road, then turn left onto the 256 Road which leads back to the highway.

 

Fort St. John, BC – February 11, 2015

A motor vehicle accident at Mile 64 of the Alaska Highway has closed both lanes of traffic. It is expected that the highway will be closed until at least 2:30 pm this afternoon. Flaggers are on scene and determining if a detour is feasible.

The collision involved three vehicles. Injuries have been reported but the extent of the injuries has not yet been determined.

Fort St. John RCMP is on scene and continuing their investigation of the accident.
